This entry in the current trend of tongue-in-cheek slasher flicks proves that the genre is like its crazed killer characters. It refuses to die and is getting really ugly. Nearly abandoning the urban legend aspect of the original, the "movie within a movie" schtick is stolen from the "Scream" series as film students compete for the career-starting Hitchcock award at a prestigious film school. Amy (Morrison) decides to base her movie on urban legends after a chat with Reese (Devine), the only returning cast member of the original. Soon, fellow students and their projects get killed in development. Composer and film editor Ottman, making his directorial debut, seems more intent on giving movie cliches a slight twist and making film industry inside jokes than actually delivering a coherent plot.
