Social drama isn't as dated as we'd like to think. Auto worker Frank Taylor (Bogart) is angry at being passed over for an expected promotion that goes to a Polish immigrant. So he's easy pickings for a Klan-like secret society that practices hatred and Frank gets in deep, eventually losing his family. His best pal, Ed (Foran), tries to get Frank out but only tragedy follows. Very grim and one of Bogart's early unsympathetic starring roles.
