Somewhat mawkish melodramatic fantasy about love-starved dwarf Lucien Lhotte (Thual) who works as a law clerk. He's summoned by aging opera singer Countess Paola Bendoni (Ekberg), who wants a divorce. The duo become improbable lovers, although he's humiliated (and vengeful) when the Countess returns to her husband. Lucien is also innocently loved by young circus acrobat, Isis (Gauzy), and her profession leads Lucien to an unexpected escape from his restricted world. French with subtitles.
