Douglas lends both dignity and humor to his first screen role since recovering from a stroke. Harry Agrensky (Douglas) is a one-time boxing champ (recovering from a stroke) who wants to live as independently as possible. He claims to have a fortune in diamonds, given to him by a mobster, hidden away in Reno and bullies his estranged son, Lance (Aykroyd), and his grandson Michael (Allred) to go on a road trip and retrieve them. There are various adventures and bonding moments and Douglas is re-united with Bacall (as a Nevada madam), with whom he worked in 1950's "Young Man with a Horn."
