Casbah Movie Review 1948

Fine musical remake of the 1937 French film "Pepe Le Moko" and its American counterpart, 1938's "Algiers." Criminal Pepe (Martin) is safe as long as he hides out in the Casbah--outside lurks patient policeman Slimmane (Lorre), who's determined to capture him. Of course, it's l'amour that trips Pepe up when he falls for tourist Gaby (Toren), who's leaving Algiers. If Pepe had any brains, he would have stuck with hot local number, Inez (De Carlo), instead.
