Sexy romantic comedy set to the beat of sultry Brazil. Middleaged American widow Mary (Irivng) teaches English in Rio and catches the romantic eye of Pedro (Fagundes), an attorney who has been dumped by his wife. Meanwhile, Mary's soccer-playing pupil Acacio (Borges) is trying to become a teacher's pet before transferring his affections to Pedro's clerk Sharon (Antonelli), who just happens to be involved with Pedro's half-brother (Cardoso). And the romantic complications just keep building. Soundtrack is filled with the songs of bossa nova composer Antonio Carlos Jobim. Based on the novel "Miss Simpson" by Sergio Sant'Anna.
