Averroes (el-Cherif) is a 12th century Arab humanist philosopher living in Andalusia, Spain. When one of his disciples is burned at the stake for heresy, the man's son Youssef (Rahouma), following his father's wishes, travels to Andalusia to study with Averroes. Youssef finds that the ruling Caliph (Memida) supports Averroes but a fundamentalist Muslim cult hopes to overthrow the Caliph and destroy Averroes and his students. Arabic with subtitles.
