Branagh's latest dip into the Bard is moved into the 1930s and accompanied by the music of Cole Porter, the Gershwins, and Jerome Kern. Just as four men vow to swear off women and concentrate on their studies along comes a French princess and her three companions. Guess what happens. As with the 1996 Woody Allen film, "Everyone Says I Love You," the actors try their best to be singing/dancing fools but most just end up looking foolish. As for Shakespeare, well about two-thirds of the text is actually gone and even lesser Will shouldn't be treated like that.
