Hanging Up Movie Review 1999

Strident, schmaltzy comedy about family. Married working mom and middle sister Eve (Ryan) seems to be the one that has to deal with family dilemmas, in this case her cantankerous dying father Lou (Matthau). Older sis Georgia (Keaton) is a workaholic Manhattan magazine exec while ditzy younger sis Maddy (Kudrow) is an actress working on a soap. They check in by phone but duck out on their share of the responsibilities although sibling rivalry rears its head. Based on the novel by Delia Ephron.
