Psycho serial-killer thriller about a Rome police detective, Anna (Argento), who has an extreme hallucinatory reaction to artwork (the title syndrome). While visiting an art gallery, she collapses and is assisted by Alfredo (Kretschmann), who turns out to be the very rapist-killer whom she's hunting. Anna escapes from him once (after being tortured) but is captured again. However, she manages to fight back in ways squeamish viewers may want to avoid watching. Inspired by Graziella Magherini's novel "La Sindrome di Stendhal."
