Flip (Hoch) and his friends long to be gangsta rappers, despite being white and from Iowa. He fantasizes about duets with his idol Snoop Doggy Dogg while dealing baking soda passed off as cocaine to dimwit yuppie disco patrons. He befriends recent Chicago transplant Khalid (Bird) and persuades him to take Flip and his poseur posse to the Cabrini Green projects, where Flip discovers his gangsta fantasy pales in comparison to the real thing. Uneven performances and a rather phat-free script water down an undeniably good premise.
