The third installation of the "Sarah" saga is set in 1918. A harsh winter is making life difficult for Sarah (Close), Jacob (Walken), and their three children. Then their lives take a strange turn when Jacob's father, John Witting (Palance), who abandoned his family when Jacob was a boy, suddenly shows up on their farm. A devastating storm proves just as paralyzing as the unresolved feelings between Jacob and John, but Sarah is determined to do what's best for her family.
