Yet another SNL skit tries to stretch to feature film length and remain funny. Don't these people ever give up?! What's next? "Weekend Update: The Movie?" This time producer Lorne Michaels showcases klutzy Catholic schoolgirl Mary Katherine Gallagher (Shannon) as she tries to win a school talent contest and a kiss from the campus hunk (Ferrell). Of course, it's really about her strange armpit sniffing technique and panty-flashing behavior. The material doesn't translate well to movie length (shocking!), and the "teenagers" look like they're about 20 years late for homeroom. There are some funny bits, however, and if you like the character on the show you'll probably like the movie. Warning: There are scenes where Ms. Gallagher french kisses a tree, which sounds a lot funnier than it actually is.
