Slick lawyer Roy Bleakie (Baldwin) suffers a crisis of conscience with his latest case--the one he expects will hand him the District Attorney's office. Harry Fertig (Kingsley) has killed the three people he regards as responsible for the death of his young son. He's confessed to the crime and wants to plead guilty and accept responsiblity--for his own ambitions Roy wants Harry to plead temporary insanity. But it turns out there's more to the case than even Roy knows. Good performances in what could be just another courtroom melodrama.
