Catherine Cookson's The Round Tower Movie Review 1998

Post-WWII Britain finds 17-year-old Vanessa Radcliffe pregnant. Her wealthy, socially conscious parents are appalled, especially when they think the father is the son of their housekeeper, Angus Cotten. He's not but winds up marrying Vanessa anyway--this unlikely circumstance putting Angus on the road to success.
