A single mother and her seven children live in a drafty farmhouse in rural southern France. Their father is married, has another family, and uses his mistress and the children as cheap farm labor. He treats them all badly and their mother begins to sink into despair as the seasons pass. Finally, on Christmas Eve, everything comes to an unexpected conclusion. French with subtitles.
