Former Scotland Yard detective Albert Tyburn (Eve) has been sent to work in Nairobi, Kenya in the hedonistic expatriate community of the 1930s, known as "Happy Valley." But despite his disdain for the community's racial and social lines, Tyburn is soon involved in murder and mayhem. In "Private Lives," Tyburn investigates the death of Lady Ellesmere and discovers drug-running, adultery, and murder. "Hide in Plain Sight" finds Tyburn investigating the death of a native girl and the disappear of other girls from the local Christian mission. "The Sport of Kings" finds Tyburn involved in the murder of a young boy against the backdrop of Nairobi's premier social event, Race Week.
