A wild, wild waste of time, money, and star power that saw director Sonnenfeld and star Smith re-team (after "Men In Black") for this western spy spoof based on the 60s TV series. Government agents James T. West (Smith) and master-of-disguise Artemus Gordon (Kline) are sent to stop diabolical wheelchair-bound scientist, Dr. Arliss Loveless (Branagh), from assassinating President Ulysses S. Grant in 1867. The budget was $100 million but the elaborate sets and effects are more hokey than cool and some money should have been spent on the script. And a black James West just doesn't work, no matter Smith's charm.
