It's a hard life in the Australian outback for Gladwyn (Davis) and Larry (Sheridan) Ritchie who, with their three children, raise specialty palm trees on their small farm. It's a struggle that's made more uncomfortable for Gladwyn when 15-year-old Lara (Hewett) arrives. Lara is Larry's daughter by his late first wife and Gladwyn doesn't think the city-bred girl will fit in, and she's also worried that Lara's presence will stir up old memories for her husband. Indeed, Lara's only friend seems to be the stray Dingo dog she adopts and names Thunderwith. Based on the novel "Thunderwith" by Libby Hathorn.
