Wealthy, foppish English aristocrat, Sir Percy Blakeney (Grant), is not the fool he seems. Indeed, he masquerades as the daring Scarlet Pimpernel, the rescuer of those persecuted by the French Revolution, and the bane of French spy Chauvelin (Shaw). Why Percy has even managed to fool his lovely French wife, Marguerite (McGovern), who was once involved with Chauvelin, and who comes to see her husband in a more heroic light. Based on the novels by Baroness Emmuska Orczy.
