Area 88, Act III: Burning Mirage Movie Review 1986

It has been almost two years since Shin was betrayed into becoming a mercenary combat pilot. Determination to return to his fiancee Ryoko, Shin has become an expert killer. Things at the Area 88 airfield are more terrible than ever, but Shin is accustomed to the carnage. Meanwhile, Ryoko decides to do whatever is necessary to bring him home. In this final episode, a new portrait of Shin emerges. As the other plot points are resolved, Shin's story concludes perhaps the only way it could. An uncompromising look into the mind of a man forced into the nightmare of war without even the slogans of a recruiting officer for comfort. Shin's moment of truth is quiet, but unforgettable.
