Nicole (Hart) and Chase (Grenier) have grown up next door to each other and attend the same high school, but that's all they think they have in common. Pep rallying Nicole yearns to date BMOC Brad (Carpenter), but he's only interested in a rival cheerleader. Slacker-type Chase just wants to hang out at the coffeehouse with his animal activist girlfriend Dulcie (Larter), but he gets dumped hard. They conspire to win their dream dates to the prom by pretending to be a couple in order to provoke jealousy. As the two grow closer, they inevitably fall in love. Unfortunately, they don't do it in a very entertaining or amusing manner. Slow paced, unfunny and trite is no way to go through life, son. Based on the novel "How I Created My Perfect Prom Date" by Todd Strasser.
