Tangled rehash of the '60s series tries very hard to be cool, but ends up as hip as a $2 haircut. Attempts to update the premise, but teen criminals-turned-cops Pete (Ribisi), Linc (Epps), and Julie (Danes) merely look like they're guilty of shoplifting from The Gap and making unwise acting career decisions. They all glower sullenly as they try to crack a convoluted case involving drugs, prostitution and their dead boss Capt. Greer (Farina). Director Silver manages to crush what little dramatic tension was left in the stale script into a bland pulp. This shameless attempt to highjack youth culture in order to sell jeans is just another case of the man trying to keep you down.
