Three half-sisters reunite in their rundown family home, located in the sugar cane country of Australia's tropical north, to bury their mother. Resentful Mae (Morton-Thomas) feels she was trapped into caring alone for their prematurely senile mother while sophisticated Cressy (Maza) became a successfull opera singer and youngest sister Nona (Mailman) indulged her party girl ways. Old grievances are aired and the trio set off more than one kind of fireworks together. Adapted by Nowra from his play.
