Anna Sipes (Hamilton) is pleased to welcome Minnie McGhee (Whitfield) to her Detroit neighborhood in 1944. But not every one feels the same, since the McGhees are black. The community (including Anna's husband) wants to force an eviction but since Anna and Minnie have become friends, they are equally determined that the McGhees will remain where they are. Based on the landmark civil rights case, Sipes vs. McGhee.
