Third remake of "The Shop Around the Corner" ("In the Good Old Summertime" was number 2) finds independent bookstore owner Ryan battling Hank's bookstore conglomerate to stay in business. How does this qualify as a romantic comedy? Because they're flirting with each other anonymously by e-mail. Third teaming of Ryan and Hanks relies, almost too much, on their considerable chemistry. Soundtrack music was chosen for maximum on-screen and record store effect. Must-see for hopeless romantics and fans of Hanks and/or Ryan. Others must decide based on tolerance for meet-cute situations and lightweight romantic comedy.
