Yumiko (Esumi) has a contented life in Osaka with her husband Ikuo (Asano) and their newborn son. Yet, inexplicably, her husband commits suicide one night. Later, a neighbor of Yumiko's helps her with an arranged marriage to prosperous widower Tamio (Naitoh), who lives in a remote fishing village, and once again things seem to be happy. But her first husband's death still haunts her and Yumiko seeks an explanation that will allow her to have some peace in her life. Adapted from a story by Teru Miyamoto. Japanese with subtitles.
