Strong-willed teenager Hala (Danes) throws her working-class Polish/American family into a tizzy when she becomes pregnant and the family decides she must get married. But Hala's not the only one whose life is romntically complicated--her mom Jadzia's (Olin) had a longtime affair with Roman (Serbedzja), which husband Bolek (Byrne) tolerates because he's afraid of losing her. Too slapsticky but the cast is game and it does have heart.
