Sandra (Arquette) and Ben (Johnson) are hot 'n' heavy lovers. Jake (Mulrony) is husband to one and brother to the other. Peggy (Parker) has eyes for Ben and works with Jake. Since this is a contemporary noir comedy, there's plot twists, betrayal, blackmail, murder, a fortune in insurance money, and two cops (DeGeneres and McKinnon) trying to piece it all together. Overshoots comedy and ultimately lands in silly territory, but looks good doing it. Johnson comes out the best, kicking pic up a notch whenever he's on screen. DeGeneres (as the jaded cop) and McKinnon (the wide-eyed newbie) plod through the odd-couple schtick.
