The short film that became 1996's critically acclaimed "Sling Blade." This stark black-and-white short, penned by Billy Bob Thornton and directed by George Hickenlooper ("Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse"), premiered at Sundance. The original version only involves a young reporter's (Ringwald) interview with Karl Childers (Thorton), in which he recalls the events that led him to be in the institution. Also includes "The Making of 'Some Folks Call It a Sling Blade'" (color, 13 minutes) which comprises interviews the stars, director, and producer.
