TV version of the Thomas Hardy novel (filmed for the big screen in 1967) that follows the adventures of young Bathsheba (Baeza), who's the object of desire for three very different men in 19th-century rural England. Independent-minded Bathsheba Everdene inherits a farm and insists on managing it herself. She's aided by steadfast head man Gabriel Oak (Parker), who loves her but doesn't feel he can offer her anything; wealthy older neighbor William Boldwood (Terry), whose love for Bathesheba becomes an obsession; and rakish Sgt. Frank Troy (Firth), who captivates Bathsheba but proves to be a scoundrel.
