While on a cruise ship Lisa (Slaska), a former camp guard at Auschwitz, realizes that fellow passenger Martha (Ciepielewska) was once one of her prisoners. Their meeting triggers a series of flashbacks to the Holocaust and to domination, suffering, and resistance. Director Munk was killed in a car crash during filming, which was completed by his colleague Witold Lesiewicz. Based on the novel by Zofia Posmysz-Piasecka; Polish with subtitles.
