Joey (Roth), who's mentally a little slow, returns to his tough Staten Island neighborhood after being paroled from prison. He goes to live with his low-level drug dealer older brother Tommy (Russo) and Tommy's wife, Lorrain (Unger), who's not too happy about the situation--at first. But Joey's basically a decent guy and Lorrain begins to respond to his consideration. Meanwhile, desperate Tommy's in debt to a loan shark and his behavior may once again find Joey taking the rap for his brother's misdeeds. The story's predictable but the cast definitely rises above the material.
