Mildly amusing sports/romance based on Nick Hornby's 1992 sports memoir and set in late '80s London. English teacher/school coach Paul Ashworth (Firth) is an obsessed fan of the Arsenal football (soccer) club. Although completely oppposite in temperament, Paul begins a romance with fellow teacher, Sarah (Gemmell), who's only mildly interested in sports. When Sarah gets pregnant, they drift apart as Sarah begins more and more to resent Paul's perpetual adolescent behavior. Finally, it all comes down to Arsenal's championship match and how they both react.
