The Whims of a River Movie Review 1996

Jean-Francoise is exiled to a tiny African colony to serve as its governor. Longing for France, he nevertheless becomes intrigued by his surroundings, eventually falling in love with Amelie, a former slave. Soon France seems a distant memory--until a flotilla bearing the colors of the French Republic arrives on his shore. French with subtitles.
