Eugene (Duchovny), a disgraced junkie doctor who has lost his license, saves the life of a hood in a bar while trying to score more drugs. This brings him to the attention of Raymond (Hutton), the head of a counterfeiting and smuggling ring, who hires Eugene as his own personal emergency room. While patching up crooks so they don't get arrested at the hospital, Eugene develops more than a doctor-patient relationship with Raymond's pillow-lipped girlfriend Claire (Jolie). Things begin to get a little slicey and dicey for Eugene, until he saves the life of an undercover cop. While sufficiently bloody and nasty, flick tries too hard to be offbeat and hip.
