Astro Boy: The Lost Episode Movie Review 1963

In "The Beast From 20 Fathoms," a group of jewel thieves disappears near Lake Foggybottom. The lake is drained revealing a monster whose hypnotic venom allows it to make humans its slaves. Of course, Astro Boy, the boy robot, is immune and more than able to take on the monster. This is the episode that creator Osamu Tezuka threw in the trash, intending for it never to be seen. Also includes "The Snow Lion" which finds an unearthly snow shutting down all man-made sources of energy. Of course, it's really a clever alien invasion. Objectively, the second episode on the tape is better than the lost episode, but the lost episode is interesting. In the overall TV series, these episodes are numbers 34 and 52, respectively.
