Profane satire of the world of professional hockey. Over-the-hill player-coach of the third-rate Charlestown Chiefs, Reggie Dunlop (Newman), gathers an odd-ball mixture of has-beens and young players and reluctantly initiates them, using violence on the ice to make his team win. The on-ice striptease by star player Ned Braden (Ontkean) needs to be seen to be believed. Charming in its own bone-crunching way.
