The first part, "Life on the Beam," outlines the life of Harry Bridges, labor leader and first president of the International Longshoreman and Warehousemens' Union. The second section, "Men Who Built the Golden Gate Bridge," features rare archival footage of the men who risked their lives in 1935-37 to build the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California.
