Before Reggae Hit the Town Movie Review 1992

Documentary that takes a look at the African roots of music, religion, and dance in Jamaica. Contains information on principal folk traditions that still survive, including the music of the Maroons, Pocomania (which combines African and Christian traditions), the dancing of the Junkanoo, and the music of the Nyabingh sect. Includes commentary from noted Rasta singer Justin Hinds who links these traditions with today's reggae.
