Documentary that explores African culture and art, centering on the issues of fakery, taste, and racial politics involved in transnational trade of the African art known as "wood." Focuses on a Nigerian art dealer, Gabai Barre, showing how he adds economic value and changes the meaning of what he sells by interpreting and mediating between African cultural values and what the Western consumer is looking for. Includes interviews with Western collectors, Muslim traders, African artist and intellectuals, and the filmmakers themselves.
