Allah Tantou Movie Review 1991

Using home movies, newsreels, dramatizations, a prison journal, and a forced confession, director Achkar traces the life and imprisonment of his father, Marof Achkar, and the corruption of the Toure regime ruling over Africa's Guinea. Not unlike Guinea itself, Marof Achkar was a confident and charismatic leader stripped of his identity, position, and family for the sake of European colonization. In French with English subtitles.
