Documentary on the worldwide struggle for human rights and the progress that has been made. The first section focuses on the drafting of the Univeral Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, a document which defined human rights while setting standards against which to measure government behaviors. The second section links the Declaration to the history and growth of the human rights movement in the former Czechoslovakia and features prominent dissidents, including Vaclav Havel. The third section discribes the efforts of one human rights group in Guatemala to document the military abuse of peasant's rights. Includes comments by 1992 Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Menchu. A discussion guide is included.
