In 1936 writer James Agee and photographer Walker Evans traveled to Hall County, Alabama, to document the desperately poor lives of three cotton farming families. Their work, published in 1941, is the classic "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men." This documentary gives a contemporary portrait of poor rural family life existing under the same conditions as those sharecroppers of the Depression.
