Romanian immigrant and poet Codrescu travels the States in his fire-engine red '68 Cadillac convertible hoping to discover more about this thing called "freedom." His journey from New Orleans to San Fran and major cities inbetween immerses him in the multiculturalism and eccentricities of America, from a Christian communal sect in upstate New York to a visit with the Taos Pueblo Indians to Las Vegas' reknowned drive-in wedding chapel. Interesting survey of the off-beat stops short of author Jack Kerouac's beatnik classic "On the Road."
