Well-intentioned bio-actioner about the legendary Apache leader who fought the U.S. Army over forcing Native Americans onto reservations. The division of young Army officer Gatewood (Patric) is to round up the renegades led by Geronimo (Studi), whom Gatewood naturally comes to admire. Hackman and Duvall (as a General and a scout respectively) steal any scene they're in although the leads manage to hold their own. An unknown Damon plays the narrator, Lt. Britton Davis. Too noble for its own good and somewhat plodding. Great location filming around Moab, Utah.
