Spencer's Mountain Movie Review 1963

Fonda plays the larger-then-life patriarch of nine (with O'Hara as his wife), who's inherited the Wyoming mountain land claimed by his father. Fonda's dream is to build a new house large enough to contain his brood but something always gets in his way. This time it's eldest son MacArthur's dream of a college education. Sentimental family fare based on a novel by Earl Hamner Jr., which also became the basis for the TV series "The Waltons."
