Epic miniseries from Pulitzer Prize-winner Alex Haley chronicles the life of his paternal great-grandmother, who bore a baby girl, Queen, to her white slave master. At the heart is Queen's quest for identity as she experiences unique problems due to her mixed race. She finally finds love with a ferry operator (Glover) whose role is powerful but unfortunately brief. It is this union that produces Alex's father, Simon. Although Haley died during production, he had spent considerable time sharing his vision with the staff, who also worked with him on the original "Roots." Good casting and a nice interpretation of Haley's tale is above average. Worth a watch.
