This silent horror film has all the elements that would become genre standards. Mad scientist Dr. Ziska (Chaney), working in an asylum filled with lunatics, abducts strangers to use in his fiendish experiments to bring the dead back to life. There's the obligatory dungeon and even a lovely heroine (Olmsted) that needs rescuing. Great atmosphere and Chaney's usual spine-tingling performance. Based on the play by Crane Wilbur.
