Set in the waning days of Communism, three generations of Soviet women share a drab big-city apartment in a comedy of love and family. A twice-divorced museum guide cares for her bedridden mother and her two daughters while embarking on an affair with a shy suitor. Meanwhile, her older daughter is having an affair with her married boss and her cynical 15-year-old is pregnant by an ex-boyfriend. All the men, past and present, show up to celebrate the grandmother's birthday bringing the film to its poignant conclusion. Based on the novel "House of Young Women" by Anatole Kourtchatkine. In Russian with English subtitles.
